Abstract
This study is to investigate the work environment-related stress among police personnel in Tamil Nadu. The work environment encompasses the setting, social aspects, and physical conditions in which individuals perform their jobs. The objective of this study will be to analyze the challenges faced by police personnel during their daily work. Experts from the police department and union officials have identified several major factors that impact officers both physically and mentally, due to the nature of their work. These factors are categorized as follows: staff shortages, excessive documentation, long commutes, long working hours, limited peer coordination, handling difficult situations, insufficient personnel time, conflicts with other departments, dealing with adverse climatic conditions, and inadequate equipment and facilities. To address these issues, we used the Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM) methodology to analyze the impact of the above factors one and another, and try to find a meaningful solution.
